The Timber Trail

Pureora to Ongarue (between Te Kuiti and Taupo)

From Pureora village, this trail heads south through four ecologically significant areas, passing 800-year-old trees, a bush tramway and historic timber-milling sites along the way. It has some of New Zealand’s highest and longest suspension bridges, a tunnel at the amazing Ongarue Spiral and interesting interpretation panels along the trail.
