The Coast Ride

Firth of Thames

The southern roads of Auckland have developed some world-class bike riders due to the mix of quieter country roads and some testing terrain. This is one of those of training loops that never dies; you get the impression that people have been riding this loop since Adam had a bike. It’s commonly used by many of the top competitive cyclists and triathletes not only because it’s a decent distance on relatively quiet roads but also because it provides a good range of terrain. Despite not having many really big climbs, it’s undulating most of the day so a great fitness test.
