Victoria University's Institute of Indigenous People and the Law have established two Law Prizes valued at $500.00 each for students studying law at a New Zealand University.
The aim of the internet institute is to provide both high quality original contributions and specific links to the best articles on the interne dealing with indigenous law and related issues. To that end, we are seeking contributions - essays, and opinions of no more than 3,500 words in length - from law students on Maori and the law. This would include (but is not limited to) contributions on the following areas:

- Maori Land Law (Te Ture Whenua Maori 1993)

- Aboriginal Title and Treaty of Waitangi issues generally

- The Treaty claims Process

- Resource Management and Environmental Law

- Maori customary law

- Comparative papers including a NZ component

- Legal History

Good quality essays will be instantly posted on the Indigenous People and the Law site so we encourage students to send in their work as and when completed. The first prize will be offered to the author of the best piece of original work completed and received before 30 June 2000. The second prize will offered to the best original work completed and received before 29 October 2000. All contributions must be emailed in microsoft word '98 format (and contain endnotes, not footnotes) to indigenouslaw@hotbot.com.
and must be accompanied by the author's name, contact details, and university of study.
